Second place prize was won by Glasgow Health student, Elizabeth Wells.  After reading the book, Ms. Wells was inspired to become involved in the contest as “[My] thoughts just seemed to flow on paper.  Improving our environment in any way can only be good.  We can all do our part.” Ms. Wells won a $30 Barnes and Noble gift certificate. Her entry is shown below:

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
Magic is in the air
From trash to treasure so they say, saving our planet
We cannot pass it up this time no way
An African teenage boy in another time and place
Has plans to save his environment and his race
Magic is in the air where the four winds blow
Take advantage of it where ever we are
It’s free; it’s free with a little ingenuity

Thanks to all students who entered the contest and took part in this semester’s SKYCTC Book Club.  We look forward to another SKYCTC Book Club selection this fall:  Good Food Revolution, by Will Allen.
